Catching up...
I am so behind posting so I'm going to have several "catch up" posts tonight, enjoy!

Valentine's Ties...
Eli has been wanting a tie like Daddy for weeks now at I found some on clearance a few days before Valentine's for $2.49! The boys were so excited... (not the greatest pic of Eli and I but he was so proud of it and ask me to post it. )

County 4-H Days!
The three girls did an awesome job at 4-H days on the 20th!
Heghine did a demonstration on how to make our favorite Armenian Dish! She won her division and will present Saturday morning at Regional 4-H Days!
Lenna also did a demonstration on how to make our favorite chocolate chip pancakes. She was very nervous but she worked hard and at 7, she tackled a lot! She also was awarded a purple ribbon and could present tomorrow but she is traveling with Daddy (more on that soon!)
Abigayl did a Show & Tell about how to set the table. She is a Cloverbud so she could not advance on to Regional days, but she had a lot of fun!
Lenna also presented a reading and played her piano solo from the music festival a few weeks ago. She won a blue ribbon on both!

Armenian Feast for the Youth Group
Heghine was ask to make a traditional Armenian meal for the youth group at church on the 20th. Here are a few pictures of the awesome evening!

Note to self...

Sedatives given to children for procedures do not always sedate...
Sometime the opposite reaction can occur...
Today, it did!
We have to go back next week and try again to get Eli's ear tube removed...
this time, with a different medication :)

Sunday after church... 70 degrees, Kyokos, 5 miles and fun...

After having such a bad winter storm last week, Sunday seemed like spring. It was beautiful! When we got home from church, I headed outside with the kids to enjoy the weather!
 I made the girls' dresses (kyokos) over the weekend and Love them I think I will make them each a couple more!
 Natey Bug loves his bike! He's also a bit of a wild man on it, especially if water is involved!
 Thankfully the snowball missed!
Abigayl found this sweet reminder of fall and Lenna enjoy the last tastes of snow as it melted on Sunday!
 Treasures found with creative new uses...
 I think iit is crazy now... what about when this one is 15... that scares me :)
Heghine and I are training for a 1/2 marathon in May. We headed out in the afternoon for a 5 mile jaunt! It was so nice to be outdoors and not on the treadmill an a beautiful afternoon!

Snow Days...

FOR TODAY, Feb. 8th, 2011
***I started this this morning, the weather storm changed many of our plans for the week:)

Outside my window...
blowing snow, they say a big storm is blowing in. It's currently 7 degrees but the "real feel" temp with the wind chill is -14.

I am thinking... it has been a long time since I took the time to fill out a daybook, I miss recording what my week looks like.

I am thankful for... a warm house on a cold winter day, candles burning in the fireplace, hot coffee with cream, a stack of Revolutionary War stories for kids, the smell of warm cookies from a burning candle in the kitchen...

From the learning rooms... Revolutionary War history, we jumped ahead a bit but the kids love this time period and there have been lots of opportunities lately to us to learn about it that we are enjoy it for a few weeks. 

From the kitchen... Pancakes for breakfast, Lenna is practicing her 4-H demonstration. Sandwiches for lunch.

I am wearing...
black yoga pants, long sleeved shirt with a a Wild Olive tee over it, my favorite... Beauty from Ashes

I am creating... dresses for the girls from this cute Patty Young Pattern from Modkids- Kyoko.

I am going...
to one of the State Universities several hours away later today, Heghine has an exchange student program there all day tomorrow. I am hoping the snowstorm doesn't make travel too bad.

I am reading...
One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp

I am hoping...
to faithfully keep adding to my list of things I am thankful for each day on my journey to 1000. That My memory work for Bible study continues to go well as we learn Philippians 4.

I am pondering these words... Philippians 4:8- Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

I am praying for... my children using scripture several times each day...

I am hearing... Abigayl reading her reading lesson out loud, the boys playing together, the heater running and the wind outside.

Around the house...
Clothes to pack in our over night bag, thank you notes to be finished, dishes to put away out of the dishwasher and ones to reload it with from breakfast.

One of my favorite things...
candles twinkling in the fireplace on a chilly day, I know they don't warm the house but it makes it feel warmer! Curling up with the kids on the couch with a stack of good books to read aloud.

A few plans for the rest of the week: stopping by the library, bank and post office before we head out of town, driving to the University. The kids and I will keep busy at local museums and on campus while Heghine is involved in the International student program. Driving home tomorrow night. Home school science group on Thursday, school with the kids and staying warm.

Baby Love and a Valentine's Party!

I am blessed with another group of moms in our little town that also enjoy getting their kids together for a party from time to time. The kids have great fun together and we moms get to enjoy the company as well.

Our little get together started a few months ago when we got the kids together for a reading party, having our older children read to the younger ones. Our first one was before Thanksgiving and I thought it would be a one time party, reading Fall and Thanksgiving stories, enjoying snacks and a fall craft. Then we decided that a Christmas party would be fun with more stories and crafts and at that one, we decided a Valentine's party too. Friday afternoon, we got together with a few stories, Valentine's crafts, lots of candy and sugar and hearts and cards everywhere!
Then Saturday, I got my baby fix! 
 My friend was moving and they needed someone to watch their little one... what fun we had with hours of snuggling this little bundle! How I miss having a tiny one around sometimes!
The kids enjoyed loving on this little man too!


Happy Chinese New Year 2011!

We celebrated the start of the New Year on Thursday evening as a family. I didn't take any pictures but I tried my hand at making home made dumplings (the wrappers too... if anyone has a great wrapper recipe, I'd love to have it!), pork and long life noodle soup. 

Our internet has been out for several days and is finally back up again! Now we are getting hit with a winter storm, I am actually very thankful for the snow and we are enjoying snuggling down, watching movies (after we finished our school day) and enjoy hot chocolate today!
