Outside my window... It is a beautiful spring morning, the windows are open and i can hear the birds. We had another chilly night and we covered the garden to protect it from frost. Honestly, I am wanting spring to stay for awhile!
What I am hearing... kids reading to each other... Chris Tomlin... some one's wind chime is ringing in the breeze in the distance, beautiful sounds...
From the kitchen... we have had some wonderful things lately come from the kitchen... chicken noodle soup for supper made by my wonderful husband, asparagus from the garden along with fresh broccoli lately, this week I am making freezer meals for a friend's family and for our family... yummy!
From the Learning rooms... Finishing up our school year, making plans for what we will work on over the summer and planning for school in the fall, with curriculum, etc. We are finishing
Total Language Plus,
Sign on the Beaver, and the kids are itching to read the books of the ones we will study next year so I have them hidden away. Making a list of what Math books I have on hand for the kids and what needs ordered at the Home School Conference in a few weeks. Looking for ways to add more Art to our schedule.
In the Garden... our tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and pumpkins are all planted along with the eggplant. The radishes are growing quickly and I am looking forward to fresh spinach salad soon. I still need to plant green beans,
heirloom Lima beans and some squash. I am excited about the Lima beans this year, when I was a little girl, my grandma always grew this specific beans, my uncle gave me some seed that he has kept over the years so hopefully it will done well. Our parsley crop is growing well and we hope that the Black Swallowtails find our little herb garden planted just for them. Last night we had to cover everything because a cold front moved through and we had temps in the mid to low 30's... unusual for here.
Words I am pondering... "Be Still and Know that I am God..." Psalm 46:10a
Plans for the rest of the week...
gymnastics practice
Laundry
more freezer meals
my nephew's high school graduation
Sorting school books and wrapping up our main lessons
Looking at our summer ahead... lots of planning to be done. We have baseball, gymnastics, church camp, the county fair, a trip to Texas for a 2 day class and we get to see friends while we are there! (Thanks Levi & Marlise for letting our crew crash your house!) Add in a few swimming lessons, hunting for rocks for our geology project, Kids Quarters at one of the National Parks... it's going to busy and fun!
What I am praying for... friends leaving for China next week to bring home their daughters, another friend who has hit a little bump in the process of bringing home their son. Plans for an upcoming mission trip.
A sweet memory from the last week... rain...
even though it included a little hail, it wasn't big enough here to do much damage.
Much better than what life had been looking like with dust storms!
What is your week looking like?
