Thanksgiving MemoriesWe had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day yesterday. We spent Weds. studying Thanksgiving in school and making all sort of special treats and fun things. The kids went with Daddy to work for awhile and watched part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Then I loaded up the kids and we headed out to have lunch with Shawn's family at a big family reunion. Oh my, you should have seen the spread of food! It was awesome! Shawn's sister and her family were there along with Shawn's brother, Jay and Elaine. It was great to see everyone, though a bummer that Daddy didn't get to go to. We ate tons of food, enjoyed a time of fellowship. The kids loved playing with their cousins that they don't see often and several that they have never met.Check out this baby cuteness, my youngest nephew. I could just squeeze this little guy all day!!!We then drove out to the family farm and spent the evening hanging out with Uncle Jay and Elaine. They watched the Peanuts Thanksgiving Special, lots of giggles and hugs and fun with play dough.

Here are a few special memories of the last few days caught on the camera....(Jay & Elaine, we added a few extra for you guys:)Uncle Jay & Eli (pretending to be a dead deer... oh that hunter boy of mine!)Here are some pictures of our Weds. preparing for Thanksgiving fun as well. The boys took a break from cooking on Weds. to play space ship racers in the hallway with school chairs. The kids made "Pilgrim Hat" treats to take to Thanksgiving Dinner...We also took some time to make our pomander oranges for Christmas so they will be ready! The house smells some wonderful with all the cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice in the air! Then this morning, my sweet helper Lenna, Spent her morning putting stickers and return address labels on my Christmas cards for me!
Lincoln's Thanksgiving Proclamation we read this week for school:

"We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us.

It has seemed to me fit and proper that [the gifts of God] should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged with one heart and one voice by the whole American people. I do, therefore, invite my fellow citizens . . . to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens."

When a wonderful Thanksgiving we had, now we are so ready to get in the mood for Christmas as well... here come the lights, tinsel and stack of Christmas read aloud stories next!
